Welcome to the Princess Theatre website!

Official Statement January 2021

Dear Friends of the Princess Theatre

We hope you are well and coping with life at the moment.

It is with heavy hearts and under the National Lockdown restrictions that are currently in place, the Princess Theatre and Sunset Wine Bar are closed.

The events of 2020 have affected every part of all our lives.  For theatres throughout the world, the impact of Covid 19 cannot be understated.  Closing our doors has left a big gap in our lives.  We are missing being able to bring you live performances and now, for the third, and hopefully the final time, we are in the process of moving all our spring shows into the summer and autumn, and also into 2022. We will contact all customers regarding the relevant shows once we have further information for you. Please bear in mind that any refunds will not be able to be processed until we are able to operate back in the venue.

On behalf of the management, all our staff, backstage crew, front of house, and volunteers, we thank you for your continued support as we work together to ensure the future success of the Princess Theatre.  With your on-going support, we believe we can come back stronger than ever.

On a positive note, we are busy working on our brand new, all singing and dancing show, ‘The Great British Seaside Special’, featuring seaside fun throughout the decades which will be on stage every Wednesday and Thursday throughout August.

Other major shows to look out for are, The Manfreds, Jim Davidson, If It’s Laughter You’re After with Olly Day and Nigel ‘Boy’ Syer, Merrill Osmond, Albert Lee, The Drifters, The Stylistics and many more.

In December, we will be bringing 2021 to a close with one of our most popular pantomimes, ‘Aladdin’. Tickets are available NOW!

So here’s looking forward to better times – we can’t wait to reopen our doors to bring you some much needed entertainment.

Stay Safe.

Please keep updated on our Facebook page or sign up to our weekly newsletters. As this continues we will constantly keep you updated.

As you are aware, the Princess Theatre is a small venue that relies upon its volunteers to keep it operational.  We, of course, do not want to put it in jeopardy.  Please can we ask you for your continued support to take up the offer of the new dates when they become available or a credit note, rather than requesting a refund or by donating to our theatre fund above. Please see our T&Cs within the HOW TO BOOK section.

If you are a ticket holder, new tickets will be emailed to you if we have an email address for you as we are following the governments advice of using e-tickets. You can download these to a device or print them out at home and bring with you, but these must stay in your possession at all times, thus limiting contact between staff and customers. If you do not have an email address that we can use, your tickets will be printed and will be made available from the Box Office for collection when open or at showtime. There is no postage at this time. If you are requiring a refund we ask that you email the the box office.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your custom over the past 8 years and look forward to seeing you when things return to normality for the theatre. In the meantime, we very much look forward to welcoming you back to the theatre as we operate in a socially distanced way. We please ask that all customers adhere to our new Covid 19 rules and regulations. Face masks must be worn within the venue for your entire visit if over the age of 11, unless medically exempt.

Please note, as usual, our online booking system is available 24 hours a day.
